AYSO and FC Barcelona team up with Malaria No More
Malaria is a simple disease that has a simple cure. It is transmitted through mosquito bites and can easily be prevented with $10 bed nets, but it remains one of the top killers of African children under the age of 5.
Malaria No More has teamed up with the soccer world to raise awareness of this terrible epidemic.
This fall season AYSO players are getting friends and family to pledge $1 for every game they play in. Every player who contributes will have the opportunity to win one of two trips (with a parent or guardian) to Barcelona along with AYSO National Coach John Ouellette to tour the FC Barcelona Youth Soccer Center and attend a FC Bracelona match. Participants will also be entered to win FC Barcelona gear.
In addition, FC Barcelona dedicated the right arm of its 2008 U.S. tour jerseys to the More Than A Club Initiative by using the Malaria No More logo. This is in addition to the jersey logo rights it has donated to UNICEF. Through these affiliations, they support Malaria No More and other children's health organizations throughout the world.
